Week: 16 Date:  24th May 2021 - 28th May 2021 Activity:  Final preparation for Project Presentation & Demonstration next week. Completion of working of project. Objective: To complete the working of project and record a video for demonstration. To submit the presentation video and demonstration video on Microsoft Teams. To submit the thesis draft report to SV for checking. Content: The reading of time taken were recorded to test the functionality of the device. It was repeated a few times and measurements were taken for analysis.  Result:  The time taken for the device to  pump the ambu bag for the rate of 10bpm is 58.47 seconds, while for the rate of 15bpm is 58.76 seconds. Lastly, the time taken for the rate of 20bpm is 59.63seconds.                                                               Vide...

Week: 15 Date : 17th May 2021 - 21st May 2021 Activity:  Completion of project Meeting with Supervisor Objective: To update about my current progress before the presentation day to my SV. To finish making the project. Content: The meeting was done through Microsoft Teams platform at 10am, and I presented my current progress of the project that I have made before I went back for Hari Raya holiday. The project has been 90% assembled, only left is to put the arm to pump the ambu bag. The development of the project is completed and the functionality of the device was tested. Result:  It was found that the arm could not pump 1/3 of the ambu bag as it should because of the size of the gear on the motor is small hence it should be changed to a larger gear. But unfortunately, I was not able to do it since my project was left at the hostel and I was able to go back to campus when suddenly BMI announced a sudden lockdown due to the increase number of Covid-19 cases.  Conclusio...

Week: 14 Date: 10th May  2021 - 14th May 2021 Activity:  To finalize the results Thesis writing on Chapter 4 & Chapter 5 Preparing slide for presentation Objective: To verify and check the accuracy of the project To complete thesis writing Content: Another reliability test was done to check the accuracy of the device. The time taken for 3 tests was repeated for each speed. This is to show that the device is reliable to be used to patients as the time taken ranges between the allowed limit. If the device fail to pump the ambu bag within the set time, it means that there is something wrong with the device and should be checked Result:  All time taken falls accordingly Conclusion:  As a conclusion, the reliability test was done and the device is functioning well. Slide has been prepared for presentation.

Week: 10 Date: 12th April 2021 - 16th April 2021 Activity:  Meeting with Supervisor Objective: To show my current progress of the project to get the feedback on the improvement of the current prototype. Content: Meeting was done through Microsoft Team platform at 10am.  I updated about the working of the device: coding has been completed circuit has been constructed but still on breadboard the source of oxygen supply is still unknown Result:  For the supply of oxygen, the problem is that there is no suitable oxygen tank sold on the internet. If i want to use the oxygen supply for my project, it has to be from the oxygen tube outlet at hospitals. Conclusion:  As a conclusion, oxygen supply is not necessary to be used in this project and there is a limitation to go to hospitals because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

PROGRESS REPORT FYP2 (W9)

Week: 9 Date: 29th March 2021 - 2nd April 2021 Activity:  Correcting the abstract writing  Setting the rate of breathing to be used Starting to build the casing Objective: To correct the abstract according to what have been taught during Lecture Workshop last week. To set the suitable rate of breathing for the rotation of motor. Content: During last week Lecture session by the R&I Section, we were taught to write the abstract correctly hence a few correction has been made to the abstract for thesis writing.  The speed for Low, Medium and High is set according to the suitable breathing rate that is required by patients.  Low speed: 10bpm Medium speed: 15bpm High speed: 20bpm Result:  The reason on choosing these rates as the set speed is because a bag valve mask must transmit between 500 and 800 millilitres of air to a typical male adult patient's lungs to be functional, but if supplemental oxygen is provided, 400 millilitres may be sufficient. An approp...

Week: 7 Date: 15th March 2021 - 19th March 2021 Activity:  Correcting the flowchart Testing of the circuit on the breadboard Objective: To update the flowchart according to the changes that has been made.  To test the circuit again Content: Old flowchart: New flowchart: Changes on the flowchart is made based on the current coding and flow of the project. It  starts with initializing the switches where it holds options of amount of oxygen needed by the patients. The data selected will then go through a process part where it detects the selected options and straight away make counts to be sent to the motor. Apart from that, the data received will also be processed and be sent for display through the 16x2 LCD. Result:  The circuit has been tested and the motor can now rotates with different speed as been set at the delay.  Conclusion:  As a conclusion, I now need to set the speed or rate of rotation according to the suitable breathing rate of patient....

Week: 6 Date: 8th March 2021 - 12th March 2021 Activity:  Constructing circuit on breadboard Motor testing Objective: To construct available components on breadboard To test the functionality of the motor Content: The components were put on the breadboard and the circuit was constructed. The circuit was constructed a s per the simulation circuit. The power supply for the Arduino was connected to the laptop. Result:  The motor did not rotate. Pumping on the ambu bag cannot be tested yet as the ambu bag ordered has not arrived yet. I have contacted the seller as he said that I shall receive it in 2-3 more days because there has been a delay since its MCO now. Conclusion:  As a conclusion, the power supply maybe was not enough supply the motor for it to rotates. Troubleshooting will be made and update.

Week: 5 Date: 1st March 2021 - 5th March 2021 Activity:  Finalizing the coding in Arduino IDE Constructing the project Objective: To finalize the coding to be used in the project To start assembling the components Content: Coding writing has been completed and has been tested in Proteus circuit simulation. The time delay set for the motor is set at random to get time time taken for the motor to rotate then only any adjustments can be made about the time delay. Result:  The simulation worked well and the motors rotates accordingly.  Conclusion:  As a conclusion, the coding has been successfully compiled and can be use for this project. Time delay need to be adjusted according to the rate of breathing selected.

PROGRESS REPORT FYP2 (W4)

Week: 4 Date: 22th February 2021 - 26th February 2021 Activity:  Finalizing the components needed to use for the project Objective: To finalize the components used since a few changes have been made Content: From the previous report, the MPXA4250AP pressure sensor that is used to measure the pressure of the air is cancelled since the pressure inside the ambu bag will be fixed. Besides, the price is quite costly and does not necessary to be used since this is the development of a low-cost resuscitator.  Arduino Uno will also be changed to Arduino Mega since Arduino Mega has a lot more I/O pins compared to Uno. This is because I want to avoid insufficient number of ports when assembling the components later. Also, it will be easier if more features want to be added later on for future improvement of the project.  The Ambu bag for this project has been choose and has a tidal volume of 1830ml with stroke volume of 800ml. Result: - Conclusion:  As a conclusion, all c...

Week: 3 Date: 15th February 2021 - 19th February 2021 Activity:  Coding completion Survey for suitable pressure sensor Objective: To complete writing the coding Content: Circuit coding is 70% complete and I have tried it on simulation and it worked, I need to try it later using the processor.  MPXA4250AP pressure sensor to measure the pressure of the air.                     -           Connected with Arduino, the output will be displayed at laptop                     -           To be attached at the end of the ambu bag to measure the pressure being delivered out. Result:  Problems:  Should the pressure reading be displayed on the LCD? If yes, I need to use a bigger LCD. If not, the 16x2 LCD would be sufficient.  Conclusion:  As a co nclusion, I...
